English: Tawa or ype Mask. Tawa ceremony is one of the most complex rituals. This is a staging of ancient battles with neighboring tribes. During the ceremony, the spirit of the enemy incarnate by the mask ype. This type of mask is made by men in secret in the men's house. The Tawa is celebrated at the beginning of the dry season in several distinct phases. The first step is to appoint two emcees that must descend from a parent who killed an enemy. The second phase is the production of wooden masks. Sculpture trays is to give them an anthropomorphic figure. The plate is covered with feathers macaw whose combination of colors blazoned the identity of the group of which the mind of the enemy killed. The masks are kept in the men's house to celebrate the third phase of the ritual that features the old tribal wars and ended with the victory of Api'awa on their enemies.

Español: Máscara tawã o ypé utilizada en las ceremonias de los indigenas de la tribu Apyãwa Tapirapé en la selva de Mato Grosso, Brasil. Se utiliza en la ceremonia tawã, una de las ceremonias más complejas. Es una puesta en escena de antiguas batallas con tribus vecinas. Durante la ceremonia, el espíritu de los enemigos está encarnado por la máscara ypé. Los hombres elaboran este tipo de máscara en secreto en la casa de los hombres. La ceremonia tawã se celebra al comienzo de la estación seca en varias fases distintas. La primera fase consiste en nombrar a dos maestros de la ceremonia que tienen que descender de un padre que logró matar a un enemigo. La segunda fase es la elaboración de las máscaras, que tienen una base de madera tallada en forma antropomórfica, cubierta con plumas de guacamayos cuya combinación de colores realza la identidad del grupo al que pertenece el espíritu de los enemigos vencidos. Las máscaras se guardan en la casa de los hombres hasta la celebración de la tercera fase de la ceremonia, que consiste en la puesta en escena de antiguas batallas tribales y culmina en la victoria de los api'awa sobre sus enemigos.

C'est une mise en scène des anciens combats avec les tribus voisines.Durant la cérémonie, l'esprit des ennemis est incarné par le masque ypé. Ce type de masque est confectionné par les hommes en secret dans la maison des hommes. Le Tawã est célébré au début de la saison sèche en plusieurs phases distinctes. La première phase consiste à désigner deux maîtres de cérémonie qui doivent obligatoirement descendre d’un parent ayant tué un ennemi. La deuxième phase est la fabrication des masques en bois. La sculpture des plateaux consiste à leur donner une figure anthropomorphe. Le plateau est couvert de plumes de ara dont la combinaison des couleurs blasonne l’identité du groupe auquel appartient l’esprit des ennemis tués. Les masques sont gardés dans la maison des hommes jusqu’à la célébration de la troisième phase du rituel qui met en scène les anciennes guerres tribales et se solde par la victoire des Api'awa sur leurs ennemis.
